Итальянское правительство согласилось с целевым показателем дефицита бюджета на 2019 год, что может привести страну с крупной задолженностью к конфликту с Европейским союзом. Министр экономики Джованни Триа поддался давлению со стороны двух заместителей премьер-министра правительства - Луиджи Ди Майо, лидера «Движения пяти звезд» (M5S), и Маттео Сальвини, возглавляющего крайне правую Лигу, - выступают за то, чтобы увеличить сумму для оплаты предвыборных обещаний, таких как универсальный базовый доход, плоские налоговые и пенсионные реформы.
